Here are two grant opportunities under which your project could be eligible:

Assistance to Firefighters Grant

The purpose of the AFG Program is to enhance the safety of the public and firefighters with respect to fire and fire-related hazards by providing direct financial assistance to eligible fire departments, nonaffiliated EMS organizations, and State Fire Training Academies (SFTA) for critically needed resources to equip and train emergency personnel to recognized standards, enhance operational efficiencies, foster interoperability, and support community resilience.

In recognition of the health, safety and documented cancer risks posed by exposure to diesel fumes, Source Capture Exhaust Extraction Systems (SCES) are an AFG High Priority under Modification to Facilities. An "SCES" is a system where exhaust gases from a vehicle are captured directly, via a conduit that attaches to/over the end of the vehicle's exhaust system at the tailpipe. The captured exhaust gases are expelled through the attached conduit via mechanical or pneumatic means to the exterior of the building. SafeAir Corporation has been a leader in the design, installation and maintenance of SCE Systems for over 35 years.

If you don't have a SCE system or are unhappy with your old, outdated system...SafeAir Can Help You! If you are looking to apply for an AFG grant for your department and need to protect you and your firefighters from the hazardous health and life safety effects of diesel exhaust fume exposure, we can help you with project pricing, specifications and grant application review. Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program

The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program, funded for the first time by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act) of 2009, represents a Presidential priority to deploy the cheapest, cleanest, and most reliable energy technologies we have—energy efficiency and conservation—across the country. The Program, authorized in Title V, Subtitle E of the Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) and signed into law on December 19, 2007, is modeled after the Community Development Block Grant program administered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). It is intended to assist U.S. cities, counties, states, territories, and Indian tribes to develop, promote, implement, and manage energy efficiency and conservation projects and programs designed to:

Reduce fossil fuel emissions;
Reduce the total energy use of the eligible entities;
Improve energy efficiency in the transportation, building, and other appropriate sectors; and
Create and retain jobs.
Through formula and competitive grants, the Program empowers local communities to make strategic investments to meet the nation's long-term goals for energy independence and leadership on climate change.
